Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle in Newmarket, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on vehicle type, and additional fees may apply for those under 25. A valid full driving license, appropriate for the vehicle category, is required and should be held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. You must present valid identification along with proof of your current address. Additionally, valid payment information and a security deposit are necessary. Ensure you meet any further requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments in Newmarket
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Newmarket office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally payable upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and must be signed by both parties. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. The vehicle should also be returned with the same level of fuel as at collection; refueling fees will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may result in additional charges, so please notify us in advance if you expect to return the vehicle late. You are liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an associated administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to lower your financial liability. It is beneficial to review these options thoroughly. You are liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless covered by additional insurance. Negligent or improper use, as well as any breach of these Terms, remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
6. Cancellations and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities or purposes. This includes racing, off-road driving, or any activities that may pose safety risks. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should only be used as intended, respecting passenger and weight limits, and staying within the designated geographical boundaries without permission.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed under Newmarket law, Car Hire disclaims responsibility for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits or data, related to your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law in Newmarket
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved within the jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.
Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
